Kalakirti's Story:
Imagine waking up on a cloudless Saturday morning to the smell of crisp bacon, the muffled barking of your puppy Buster and the whispered words between your little sister and her dolly. Sounds pretty normal right? Well, not exactly.
For 16 young boys the scenario just described would probably come to them in a dream or from a glimpse of a newspaper ad.
Their Saturday morning looks a little something like this: wake up at 7 am from the blend of incessant ricksha honks and painful screams from various animal fights. Push and shove to get to the toilet first, go down to the pond, that for some reason is never blue but rather a brown-green color, and quickly take a "shower". Try to grab the last morsel of rice before anyone else, and finally, run to the dusty parking lot to meet up with your friends.
Kalakirti Orphanage, located on the outskirts of Kolkata, is currently housing 16 boys, 17 years and younger, that are actively looking for families.
Our orphanage is being run by the personal income of Dr. Neogi, a small town pediatrician near Kolkata, but he needs help. That is where you come in! These boys deserve lives far greater than what they currently have so let's give it to them!
